I don't think the result of this one game should be that surprising. Any master should have a better understanding of the game than a computer, and should win some of the time as a result. What would be surprising is if this master were to win consistently in a long series of games. What usually kills the human is all the little tactical errors that computers exploit so ruthlessly. If your friend ends up winning the match, then he must be a real anti-computer specialist. IMHO Marc
