I think part of the problem here is the Hiarcs 6.0 book. I analyzed this game a bit with Hiarcs 7.32. Its book gives 9. Bb2, which is a much better move than the 9. Be2 played in this game (which is also the move Hiarcs will play wihout a book). After the nearly forced sequence following 9 Be2, where Black sacrifices an exchange for two pawns, even Hiarcs never considers the position to be better than even for White, and it slowly degrades into lost.
