Where engine plays engine there is minimal delay within the Fritz interface between moves. In fact the delay is so small as to be unnoticeable. When playing between two computers there is a delay in transferring moves manually (if the autoplayer facility is not been used). This delay can give the opponent extra time to work out a reply. I expect this may have an influence on the differences shown in results, between the two methods of play. Also there is little to no opportunity for a long delay between transferring moves in engine v engine as the move transfer is performed automatically. In 5 minute games I would expect delays to have a significant effect on the results. As the time controls get longer the delays should become less important IMHO. Keith > >eric
