Playing at mostly fast time controls (average time levels 1-4, sudden death levels 1-4) it maintains a rating in the range of 2000-2100. The Swedish computer chess club gives the Sapphire II a rating of about 2100 in matches against other computers at slower time controls (40 moves in 2 hours). The Diamond II is the strongest computer you can buy from Novag. As with any computer, the longer it thinks, the stronger it will play. You may find that even the fastest average time level is too strong, which is why Novag included fixed-depth levels, easy levels, and beginner levels. I don't know how the Sapphire levels map to the Diamond levels, but it should be explained in your manual. Ian
