How do you run an engine like Fritz or Hiarcs on the ICC? Hello Brett, It's not as easy as some people think. Basically it takes two computers with auto232 capability connected via a null modem cable and a program like CSTal-2 to act as the "Relay" between the Fritz/Hiarcs progam and ICC. There are many problems involved with the setup. The main problem is that CSTal-2 can only relay the moves it cannot control Fritz/Hiarcs in any way. Also time is lost in relaying the moves so I have to give free time to the opponent to allow for lost time relaying moves. You log on to ICC with CSTal-2 and then connect via auto232 cable to the second computer. CSTal-2 is the only program I know of that can act in this way. It's also a nice interface for playing /watching games on ICC/FICS. It's a long way from a perfect setup. Jim Walker
