Go up one level in this thread
The first chess computer I ever purchased was about 1978 when I got the Fidelity Chess Challenger 10; the playing board was not electronically connected to the computer, communication of moves was done by the keyboard, the playing strength could not have been over 1500 USCF. and the strongest playing level averaged an impractical 11 minutes per move. Unfortunately, I sold it when I got my second chess machine about 1983 or so. That was a Mephisto Exclusive, a wooden, auto-sensory model with the MM2 program on a 4 or 5 MHz processor; playing strength may be around 1950 USCF. This computer I still have and it still works. Of course it has no learning feature and after hundreds and hundreds of games I win more often than I lose against it, but it still wins often. Does anyone have anything older that still works? eric
