I'm not bitter about the result.  If you want to know the truth, and this is the
truth, I would have been happy to have been in the top five.  I feel quite
fortunate to have been where I was at the end of the tournament.  Shredder
played some very strong opponents and won the games, for instance it beat Fritz
and Rebel on the same day.  Meanwhile, I was playing every amateur that was
having a great tournament up until they encountered me, and my program didn't
beat them convincingly in any case.

My program had one extremely excellent game, against Fritz, and I can point to
that for the next year or so whenever anyone gives me grief about my program.

But Shredder deserves congratulations.  The program is for real, and it had a
great tournament.
