If you want to know the truth, and this is the truth, I would have been happy to have been in the top five. I feel quite fortunate to have been where I was at the end of the tournament. Shredder played some very strong opponents and won the games, for instance it beat Fritz and Rebel on the same day. Meanwhile, I was playing every amateur that was having a great tournament up until they encountered me, and my program didn't beat them convincingly in any case. My program had one extremely excellent game, against Fritz, and I can point to that for the next year or so whenever anyone gives me grief about my program. But Shredder deserves congratulations. The program is for real, and it had a great tournament. bruce
