Crafty's makefile is set up for gcc compilers on various platforms and it's
makefile.nt file is set up to compile Crafty with Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 &
John Dart answered about Arasan.

I think you'll probably find most Chess programs are set up to compile with
Microsoft Visual C++.
