Hello Terry,

I apologize for taking so long to reply. I hope you will see this. The line you
posted is not what followed. Here is the continuation: 9.fxg6...Bg7 10.Bd3...e4
11.Be2...Qb6 12.Bh5...Kd8 13. And now something very interesting: Hiarcs
played 13.a4 and initially had a plus score but while waiting for my move, it's
score kept going down until it went to a minus score! I was curious about this
and felt a desire to let Hiarcs replay the move. When it replayed the move, it
played Rf1. I then let it replay the move again, and again it played Rf1.
Therefore, it would be reasonable to assume that a4 was a bad move which I would
certainly agree with. Now, as for the position, how does it look to you with my
strong passed pawn on the e-file? How does Hiarcs position look to you know? By
the way, you can check the evaluation of this position on Fritz 5.32 and I
believe Fritz states that Black (me) is around a half-pawn better. Also, I have
found that Hiarcs evaluation score tends to be somewhat inflated in its favor at
times and will decrease with no real change in the position except for the
possibility it is seeing deeper into the position. I have compared Rebel 10 - a
known good evaluator of the positional score (just check out the review of
Hiarcs 7 by Larry Kaufman) . Therefore, don't just go by what Hiarcs scores,
look at the position and while I am not claiming a clear advantage, I do believe
I have a slight advantage with a powerful passed pawn on the e-file. Only time
will tell if I can convert this into a win. However, the fact remains that I do
have a powerful passed pawn and Hiarcs is in trouble - go back to that a4 thing.
By the way, I let Hiarcs change its move to Rf1 - I believe the positional
learning feature is what caused the move change. Clearly Rf1 is better than a4,
don't you agree?
