Subject: interesting game showscasing comp weaknesses

Author: Jeff Anderson

Date: 23:05:33 07/05/99

I was very pleased when I managed to draw Fritz 5 this evening, without even
taking back a move.

This game is yet another exhibition of a computer's complete lack of long range
planning. 36....a4 was a real lemon, even I (only a USCF B player) know that it
should have prepared b4 with a break through on the queen side. 36...a4
completely destroyed this possibility and assured a draw. Instead it decided to
double its rooks on the open h-file(I'm sure its eval gave it a large bonus for
this) where they accomplished absolutely nothing. These rooks remained on the
open h file for over 50 moves.
