one way is the log.nnn files (if they exist) as any hash size changes definitely
get written there.

If not, can you send a message to crafty from the hiarcs interface?  if so,
send it "info" and see what it returns about hash size.

Another choice would be some sort of process monitor that will tell you how
much memory the program is using...  check the default size, then try the
larger size and see if the program grows as expected...
