Can anyone perhaps estimate the number of legal positions where one king is checkmated? Obviously the number would be much less than the number of legal positions (perhaps 1/5000 of all legal positions), but I still imagine it would be a very large number. Could these positions some how, in the very distant future, have some sort of practical purpose for computer chess? Jeff
