Mercilous attack got it's name from 'mercilous' handle on icc. That guy played
zillions games against crafty (do 'search mercilous crafty' there...) to master
a long - forced mate sequence against sacced N on g4 (as black) or on g5 as
white. In general programs which don't do checks in q-search (crafty for one)
can fall into that trap on fast tc and slower hardware. Some example games
below.
