The degree of difference between the versions isn't known, so comparisons aren't valid, interesting though they may be. What is needed is an identical, simple piece of ansi code, compiled with similar compilers, to be run on a variety of machines -- that would give some baseline for comparison. I am very surprised that this hasn't been done, if indeed it hasn't. Has it? I really don't know, since I lost all interest in following the company after Jobs returned. I have Dell 450, and a Mac G3/300. I would bet a hundred dollars that the Dell would run a simple loop count, plus a few read/write ops, plus add/subtracts, etc, faster than the Mac. Want to bet? If so, I'll do the test. I have the Metrowerks compilers for both platforms. Will
