For testing and playing with WinBoard engines is Fritz not so good. Fritz is not 1:1 winboard compatible. Many WB engines run without the full power. And under Fritz the engines have problems with the time control and with hash table clearing. For testing and for the programmer is winboard better. WinBoard make a good debug file and here the programmer can find errors. This is an important option. I can not understand that the free winboard protokoll Fritz or MCS not use. Here the programmer must looking the fritz protokoll and must make an better optimize for Fritz. Why, WinBoard is good and easy ! I think that winboard is better for winboard compatible programs, because the GUIs from Chess Base are wonderful GUIs and the options are very good for TOP Players and for People that will learning or for players that play in the chess club or hobby player, because not for playing with winboard engines. Kind regards Frank
