Hello Chris, The only thing I can tell you is setting programs to play an "Average time/move" gives a lot of freedom to the program/programmer. Some programs do not strictly adhere to this time control since there is no penalty for exceeding it. In other words without an exact time control there is no way to lose the game on time. So one program may adhere to the average time setting while another may not. Many programs start taking longer to move if they detect trouble or start losing since there is no penalty for exceeding the average time per move. Jim Walker
