I have been following the AMD/Intel is better for chess programs debate. Like others I am tempted by thoughts of the K7 but, having just started to use bitboards and Bob's/Eugene's LastOne(), FirstOne() etc assembly routines out of Crafty, am curious as to whether bsr/bsf would be as fast (efficient) on the new AMD as it is on the Ppro/PII. As I recall previous post here, these instructions are significantly faster on the PII than they were on the old Pentium/Pentium mmx. Not that my program is so good that these fine details are the only or best way make it better - just curious. Frank
