Steve, That may be correct technically but if you set it at max you will get a lot of hard disk thrashing, particularly with Fritz 5.32. I get 42 max (with 64 MB RAM), but around 28 keeps my hard drive silent for the most part. Any higher and hard disc is thrashed. With hard drive thrashing engine isn't thinking, just freeing up RAM so it can work. In such case Fritz will lose consistently. It seems the only way to figure what is optimal in your system, given you are dealing with limited RAM, is to experiment.
