 Since nobody posted 'simplest' advice, I'll shoot..
It is likely that your memory is too slow for your bios settings/CPU speed
combo. Try decreasing dram timings in bios and see if it works. Other programs
can be unaffected because they usually don't access memory like crazy (the way
chess program do).
