As I was practicing my chess tactics with CT-ART 3.0, position #540 caught my attention. Below is the FEN of the position. My chess engines were unable to find the best move 1. Nxe6!, and what was even more incredible was the fact after playing the move 1. Nxe6!, Hiarcs 7.32 insists in playing the blunder move 1. ... Rxc4 ??? which allows White to mate in 6 with 2. Nh6+!. Fritz 5.32 and Junior 5 have no problem to see that 1. ... Rxc4 ??? is a terrible blunder which leads to mate. Even Chessmaster 6000 was unable to find the best move 1. Nxe6!, yes, I noticed that CM 6000 selects the move as one of the choices after 15 secs, however, it changes its evaluation and selects 1. Nf5 again when allowed to think a little longer, after 45 secs. So that does not count as being able to find the solution because the engine changed its mind. Getting back to Hiarcs 7.32, after making the blunder move 1. ... Rxc4???, Hiarcs 7.32 is then able to see the mate in 6 after 2 minutes of evaluation. It makes me wonder why Hiarcs 7.32 is not able to see mate in its evaluation. My computer was a Pentium 233, 128MB of hashtable was used for all engines, with exception of CM6000, 16 MB of hashtable. And don't say that CM6000 needs more RAM, because that's a very lame excuse. 1nr3k1/1q1nbppp/p3p3/8/2RNP1N1/1P2QPP1/1B4KP/8 w - - 0 1 Laurence
