It would be akin to filling an ocean with an eyedropper. Also, the tree branches so quickly and so diversely that alomost all the pc's would have to be online and in constant communication with each other to avoid doing duplicate searches. This would be next to impossible to implement. You couldn't just do a "parcel", crunch it, submit it and receive another parcel like they are doing with SETI at home. The alternative would be to encode transpositions so that computer "a" would not need to access computer "b" in order to avoid duplication. Again, this would be very difficult to implement (I think). Also, I don't think the reward would merit the amount of programming work that would be needed to pull it off. As impressive as 100,000 pc's working together sounds, I doubt it would get very far at all into the tree before the branches involved became overwhelmingly large. (Correct me if I'm wrong on this one)Would it be worth the extra plys searched? In my opinion because of all the variables and headaches involved I don't think so. In closing though, ideas are what is needed in this forum and even if they don't always work it is good to see you putting them forth.
