Now I see a lot of talking about the game speed. Why not to ask my question! I would like to know if the "branching factor" can be improved only when you initial game speed goes down. Do somebody have its own experience to explain? Branching factor - factor that says you how many nodes the game is forced to see from all the nodes of given ply, in order of saying the final result. For instance, game is forced to see 6 moves from 30 - branching factor 6:30=20%. Initial speed - speed that you really can read on your computer. Only around from 6 ply on the AMD 400Mhz you can read more that simple zero. For me this is the initial speed, speed that is "recognizable". Until now I found that my branching factor is all the time bad compared with the games like Genius 4 and Rebel 2. Initial speed is well on my side but somewhere after the 8 ply my game loose in time, because of mentioned factor. I am asking me if finally, after reducing my branching factor, I will not end on my starting place? Maybe this is inevitable? When you reduce your branching factor your initial speed goes down as well. All that you can expect is to have the advantage in speed after the initial 8 or 9 plys. True? Thanks for your response, Leonid.
