When playing through the 2 losses for Hiarcs vs Tigers in Shep CS, I strongly felt that the outcome was due to dubious openingplay from Hiarcs. A closer look showed: 1) Hiarcs 7.32 - Chess Tiger 11,5 0-1 Hiarcs played 19.Be3 and went out of book. The whole variation is rare and, as far as I can see is 19.Be3 a TN. But the resulting endgame seems better for black. The Tiger played a good game and won. After 18.-h6 I can only find 1 game in my database. An interesting game between Tatai-Adorjan 1977. There followed 19.Bh4 Be7 20.Nd4 Qd7 21.e6 fxe6 22.Nxe6 g5 23.Re1 and black resigned 1-0. 2) Chess Tiger 11.8.2 - Hiarcs 7.32 1-0 Hiarcs played 7.-Bb4 and after 8.Nxc6 gladly parted from his black bishop with 8.-Bxc3+. This variation is also, for good reasons I think, very rare. I find only 1 game after 8.Nxc6 - there followed 8.-Qxc6 and later draw. After 11.-Qb6 Hiarcs went out of book with -0.67, only to find himself in severe trouble on the black squares. This opening line is clearly dubious, questionable or bad - whatever you prefere. Then this Tiger showed his teeth and won easily. But once again the openings... The games are to be found at Shep's site. Sune Larsson
