Usually good game see the mate (that it can inflict) no more that 4 moves ahead Mate where all the posibilities are searched. Beyond this, it look the most, when you use Pentium 400Mhz, positional move 3 moves ahead. To find positional move 3 moves ahead (find the move by searching by brute force 6 plys)will take around 1 or 8 seconds on the Pentium 400. If other side can inflict some mate in the distance superior of 4 moves (3 moves from the side that you can see and one move from opposit side)your game just can't see this. It happened to be beyond horizon of your game. Leonid.
