I do not understand what this would do other than to indicate possibly some
bogus post that a message was deleted when it wasn't. This can be handled by a
moderator posting that no, such and such message was not deleted.

Do you really want to know that poster x had 14 posts deleted or that moderator
y deleted 12 posts this month? I do not see the need for that other than morbid
curiosity (although not as morbid as wanting to see the subjects and/or bodies
of the messages).

Do you really think that legitimate computer chess posts are being deleted if
they are not abusive or majorly inappropriate for some other reason?

Some of us seem to have this morbid curiosity about deleted messages when in
reality, most of them are not worth the time it took to write them in the first
place (but we want to check them out and decide for ourselves). It is like the
news headlines where a robbery is on the front page, but a group of people
building a house for the needy is on page 27.
