No other resource than my own experience. :)

Of course I tried some single-machine prog-prog games with Fritz 5.32, but I
noticed the slowdown by other apps is extreme.
Example: Chessmaster. The typical slowdown is about 25%, i.e. for example Fritz
5.0 (16 bit) is slowed down to 75% of its normal speed when CM is running (and
not thinking) at the same time. However, Fritz 5.32 engines come almost to a
standstill (Junior 5: 3 Knps instead of 150 on the P6-233).

It is not a problem if the other application uses very little CPU time (e.g. a
DOS window or WinCommander etc.), but as soon as it requires more than a few
percent (like Chessmaster or Nimzo), Fritz yields its CPU allocation completely
(it is very polite ;-).
