Subject: Link for nice Piece Sets for your chess program

If you want a piece set for your chess program,
here are a few nice ones at a 32x32 pixel size:
  http://world.std.com/~wij/fixation/chess-sets.html
(site announcement at end)

I really like "Chess Alpha" - I hadn't seen that one, before.

Note that, depending on your (ethics | national laws) you
(should | may be legally required to) get permission to use these in
your software.

For my part (yes, the "Fowell" set is my work), you are welcome to
use the "Fowell" set (but please call this style "American"), if you:
(1) Send me email telling me about it
(2) Include a credit in the documentation similar to this:
"American" piece set by Richard A. Fowell (fowell@netcom.com),
     used with permission"

For those of you interested in a 48x48 pixel antialiased version
of my "American" set, you can grab the pieces the MacChess screenshot
I provided to the "internetchess" site:

P.S.: a good collection of other chess piece patterns is this
      chess fonts page:

Here's the site announcement

Fixation Users:

I've made a web page with step-by-step instructions for
adding more traditional-looking chess sets to your copy
of Fixation, the Macintosh client for online chess at
servers like ICC and FICS.

http://world.std.com/~wij/fixation/chess-sets.html

Chess pieces now available include ones based on
Hastings, Linotype Game Pi, Chess Alpha, Fowell, Cheq,
and a special Cheq Mini font that looks good at the
smallest board size. The web page shows examples of
these in use on typical Fixation screens.
