Hmm.  I find it much easier to play with the three pieces, personally.  They
control a lot of squares, and the queen always has to duck a fight with any of
them.

There is a game in "Tactics for the Tournament Player" (Dvoretsky) where
Dvoretsky is playing Black, and sacrifices his queen for 2 bishops, a pawn, and
some inish.  3 minors are almost always better than a queen, usually even BBPP
is adequate compensation, though I wouldn't give BNPP the same credit.
