I agree that every position is unique, as a good chessplayer you must have known
that badly coordinated pieces are often disastrous (due to tactics). A search
cannot be exhaustive, but if a search shows no serious consessions (negative
positional factors) for getting 3 minors for a queen it is better, barring even
superior material (or positional) gains. It is not truly objective, but inside
the search limits (nodes, plys, time)it is the best option (the objective one).
I have a problem using the word subjective in conjunction with computer
algorithms. But it is subjective insofar that one cannot prove correctness.
