A few really obvious questions:
Are you allowing side-to-move to "do nothing and evaluate" at any position
in the qsearch?
And if the score of this is enough to fail high, do you actually fail high and
return immediately?
Are you doing this as the first option at all qsearch positions?
Are you allowing any moves other than captures in the qsearch? ( I recommend
don't allow anything else, at least until you've got that simple case debugged.)
