Download some demos, like from www.chess.com (ChessMentor) and
www.chessasistant.com (Chess Tactics Art and Chess Strategy).
Try it and see if you like it.
Most programs have modules for beginners, intermediate and advanced players.

Myself I have chess tactics art 3.0 and I like it. The only problem is that you
sometimes miss an elaborate explanation. I think ChessMentor is better at that,
but I thought it was more expensive as well.
