You are absolutely right. The booklet says to prevent hash tables becoming full
too early by longer calculating time. So yes indeed it's a minimum.

That minimum hash proposed is under "levels" ëngine resarch" "system
information"

While I still had 128Mb it proposed over 100Mb, but that wouldn't shut up my
hard disk - too big.
Now I have 256 Mb and it proposes 128Mb as a minimum. And that's what it gets
:-) Most of the time (physical memory / 2 ) is a good max hash setting, I found
out. In engine-engine that (pm/4).
