Hm, my memory may betray me here, but I think the formula discussed above does not appear in the "Load Engine" screen. Going to the "Load Engine" screen, you see 1) The current hash size of the most recently active engine. 2) The amount of free RAM (which is not correct, see below). 3) A certain number of radio buttons with some hash size suggestions. However these are not "the" recommendation. E.g. the max button is at 128 MB, whereas the formula suggests about 192 MB for the PIII-550 with 256 MB. These are just powers of 2, starting at 8 MB and going up to RAM size / 2 (with 44 MB as an extra value). The amount of free space mentioned in 2) is also not correct. I remember very well - back when I still had 64 MB in my P6 - that you can have an engine loaded with 16 MB hash, leaving 48 MB memory as a *theoretical* maximum, and it still displayed like "52.xxx.xxx" free memory... --- Shep
