This subject has been answered in previous posting several months ago. The
reasons are: 1. The GM has a lot more to loose if they loose the a machine,
because the chess engine will gain free marketing advertisement, and the GM gets
nothing, not a single penny. 2. The GM feels that they should get paid to play
the chess engines, after all, it affects their final results in a tournament for
prizes distribution.
I think the solution is that Computer Chess Companies should pay GM some kind of
royalties if they want to use as advertisement that their engine beat so and so
GM. Because Chessbase is a sponsor of the Frankfurt event in Germany it gets the
opportunity to enter Fritz in the tournament.
