I submit that personal experience is poor at extrapolation.  For instance, you
may be a great strategic thinker, but prone to tactical attacks.  Against most
humans this will win quite often.  But computers are merciless against the
tiniest tactical faux-pas.  On the other hand, my guestimate may be 500 points
off.  I really have no concrete proof.  Your statement does make me wonder about
it.  Do you actually play the machine at 40/2 or at blitz or something
in-between?  It makes a super-enormous difference.
