Just a quick thought on FICS cheating: I have played over 1000 rated games on
FICS and only once can I remember meeting a player who's rating was much lower
than his play (he was 1200 and won a tournament with mean rating > 1800).

I have played SapphireII (I'm fluctuating between 1700 and 1800 FICS) and don't
think it is master. I have also never beaten it, but just the latest blitz game
I was several pawns up before blundering 3 moves in a row and missing mate in 1.
