I hear from my technophile friends that Windows 2000 will not run 16 bit programs and is "only" able to run 32 and 64 bit code. This means that any Win95/98 program should be just fine until the processors can only run 64 and 128 bit programs. That should be 3 to 4 years from now. I know that I will end up with 5 or 6 computers--sort of a museum. That is the only solution to the "new technology" that is being developed. Unlike old cars you can rarely find replacement parts for old computers. It is really sickening that the 12Mbyte Voodoo 2 video card that I bought one year ago for 3D gaming won't be properly supported by the new Voodoo 3 and 4 games coming out next year. Maybe, as Larry Tamarkin might say, an old chess book and a chess-playing buddy is not such a bad idea. They don't upgrade our grey matter every six months--or do they? Tim Frohlick
