It is very easy to create an anti-XYZ style. The problem is that the styles are only working for one program or ONE type of programs. If you create a style against knowledge-based searchers arround 60.000 NPS (Hiarcs, Genius, Shredder) the style is not working against Fritz. On the other hand if you have a good style against Hiarcs it will normally produce good results against Genius/Nimzo too because all 3 programs have king-attack problems. Styling is very easy. but it is only nessesary IMO for championships. There a nice style makes some people look very disapointed :-))) (I remember Ossi Weiner/Richard Lang in Paderborn 1995, they looked really unsatisfied... :-))) >Anyway, Tal is playing good in my 99 Summer Tournament. So it was in my summer-tournament. But when I post it, nobody believes it is true. :-))) People are strange. It seems anybody has his own reality. we don't seem to share the same reality. it seems we create all different reality's and although we have several paradox moments we still live in the same universe. Some people use CSTal2 and get bad results. On my machines it always wins or draws. On your machines too. It seems we can really change reality with our thoughts and ideas about HOW the world works. Just believe something will be THIS WAY and the world changes the changes for the event to happen. Of course when Andreas Mader/Moritz Berger/Mr.Young try CSTAL2 than it does not want to work strong. :-))) I am sure other tester have the same side-effects with their beloved and hated programs. >With some more luck it >may outscore Fritz (10 points) and already has the same result as Junior (9 >points). I don't think my style for hiarcs will work for fritz. Fritz has no knowledge, but deep NM-search, [try WKf2 Rd5 b4 BKh1 Rg6 a6 b5 white to move 1.Rd1+ Rg1 2.Rf1 !! Try it with Hiarcs/Nimzo/etc. and try it with dump fritz... :-))) Even this easy zugzwang problem is not fixed in fritz. This would cost too much time in the search :-))) I have heard they input more knowledge in fritz. That is what we always said: the program needs it ! ] so fritz will kill cstal with my style. But - i would find it a little bit unfair to change the style especially for fritz :-)) >Didzis > >P.S. A question for you, Thorsten. When starting Chess Tal, it performs some >speed test and gives a result of it in About... This test is not precise as on >my Pentium 200 MMX it says something like: (About 56% of P200) Why not 100%? The loop in the about box is not very exact and the programmer who has managed to implement the loop is not informed when chris changes the engine. normally each time chris changed the engine the about-box-loop has to be calibrated again. but the guys are too lazy to do so, i guess. always benchmark with engine itself !
