I'd back any of the three remaining players against any program of less strength than Deep Blue, in, say, a 24 game match like those played under the old FIDE system. Just an opinion. I wouldn't bet more than I could afford to lose. But considering how short the matches at tournament time controls are, and the fact that ties are settled by semi-blitz and blitz games, well, I think you have a point. The GMs have made some bad errors in these faster games, and I could easily see Fritz, Rebel, Hiarcs, etc. making it to the semis with a chance to go all the way. And with programs only getting better, I'd predict that computer participation is something we won't see, at least while the GMs have anything to say about it.
