Actually DOS and 16-Bit programs work fine on the Win2000 Beta.  Don't know if
the final release will be that way, but it works now.

Yes, it is a memory hog.  No let me re-phrase, it is a HUGH memory hog.

Yes, I agree.  Linux has some real promise.  Win2000 is amazingly fat (800mb!),
ultra slow and currently only supports Win32.  No Win64 yet.

For once we have a real alternative.  I hope it doesn't go to waste (remember
OS/2 ?).

A lot of great chess programs run on Unix, Linux and/or Solaris.  I haven't seen
any "commercial" programs get ported yet, however.

No, the world needs a better OS, not just chess programs.  As for me, I have my
eye on a nice Sun Station  .....
