Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu had yet another chance for a comeback today. After losing his first playoff game to Khalifman, he appeared to have an easy win. The consensus of opinion among titled observers on ICC seemed to be that 42 b5 was an easy win for White, instead we saw the blunder 42 Ke3?? This is typical of the way I throw my positions away, but I thought it was surprising for a GM, even with such a fast time control. Obviously, nerves and exhaustion take their toll even on the elite. Hopefully, $172,000 will be enough to cheer him up. [Event "World Chess Championship"] [Site "Las Vegas USA"] [Date "1999.08.19"] [Round "20"] [White "L. Nisipeanu"] [Black "A.
