First, that type of names (8+3) *is* supported in Crafty. So, you didn't have to
rename them at all.
Second, in Windows you can rename *all* relevant files just by typing
ren ???emd.nbb ???.emd.nbb
ren ???emd.nbw ???.emd.nbw
ren ????emd.nbb ????.emd.nbb
ren ????emd.nbw ????.emd.nbw
ren ?????emd.nbb ?????.emd.nbb
ren ?????emd.nbw ?????.emd.nbw
I agree that Windows has a lot of problems of their own, but please do not blame
them for your lack of knowledge.
