You got an answer elsewhere about a bounds checker for gcc, but there are a couple of other things you can do: 1) Put asserts in in logical places. 2) Add a dummy element after the last element of crucial arrays, and set every field in the element to bogus values, and occasionally assert that the element is still that way. This will help you know if something has dribbled off the end of the array. bruce
