Who makes the Alpha clones? I've heard a lot of talk about these, but yet to
see and ad.

Diddo on the hand-v-downs. Wife loves 'em (yeah right). But seriously, why are
they so bad for salvage? I would think an Alpha 533 would have some value. It
could be a heck of a mail server. Just curios.

Can't say I care about Mech Warrior or any other games for that matter. I work
with databases nonstop (hmmm....data) and chess programs when I'm feeling like a
slacker.

But back to the original point. What type of performance increase would I
expect over say a PIII/550? Would it be worth it? Cost wise?

Reason? Alpha seems to clean up when it was first released. Are the standard
Intel based systems that good these days?
