Hi Liam, Just because a program like Fritz has 10 times the speed of a program like- Hiarcs7.32, don't believe that this makes that program the stronger one! Fritz doesn't have near the knowledge that Hiarcs7.32 has and this is why it is faster in it's search in KN/S. Hiarcs7.32 is a knowledge based program which makes it smarter than the fast searchers like Fritz, but with this knowledge of Hiarcs it can find the correct moves even faster at times than these fast searchers. A friend of mine who is rated 2346 and has Fritz, uses it sometimes to proof check his games after a tournament and he asked me to check one of his very tough and critical games that he already checked with his Fritz and wanted to see what Hiarcs thought about some of the critical positions. Well, there were several positions that both programs agreed on, but there were a few critical points in his game that called for more than just tactics and this is where Hiarcs7.32 shined!! It gave some beautiful moves for a few of those critical points that Fritz didn't have a clue what to do in the position, because there were no tactics involved and Hiarcs has much more knowledge to help handle these subtle moves that call for a small improvement positionaly. My friend is quite active in the chess circles and he heard that some of the strong masters rely more on Hiarcs7.32 for analysis than any other program. I believe that several of the top programs all have their place for enjoying the game.I also like Chessmaster 6000 which is a great price and very strong. It is alot of fun to play the different personalities because for one thing it doen't kill you every game unless you want to be killed by CM6000. The two weak points are inputing new moves into the opening book and using the analysis. I believed that you asked if Hiarcs7.32 was much faster than Hiarcs7, well it is somewhat faster and it has more added knowledge from what i hear. Well, i hope that i helped answer some of your questions and most of all, enjoy the beasts!!! Good luck!!! Best regards, Terry Ripple
