In the "olden" days I recall a standard notation that called telecommunications notation. The other name was Eudman or Eudmmans, or something. Any way, a transmission string was comprised of four alpha charaters. These characters designated where the piece started the move from and where it completed the move too. I don't know what this notation was used for other the "distance" play. I'm just curios. I havent' heard or seen anything in years. A web search yielded nothing as well. In one of my old FIDE books I thought it mentioned it....but I could be in error. Thanks!!
