As I haven't got the slightest knowlegde about computer programs - it stopped at
Basic (and would you believe it, Fortran IV), I'm just a happy user- I like the
concept of Crafty very much.

The constant innovation and the sheer fun of putting new ideas to work in it
have got a definite influence on both non commercial and commercial programming.
Crafty may be not as strong as top commercial engines, from the point of view of
computer chess development I consider it state of the art.

Generating the ideas by Bob Hyatt and his team is very much one of the reasons
why computer chess is developing like it is now.
A commercial engine can weed out the weird ideas that didn't work - after a
developer and researcher like Bob put it in like it pleased his project - and
like the computer chess community does for the sake of progress.

Well, maybe I'm wrong on this issue but I hope Crafty will stay fuzzing around.
Simply the concepts behind computer chess development are worth using and
playing Crafty.

Okay Bob, what's your next weird idea??? :-)))

Jeroen ;-}
