Every human chess player understands that a pawn more (without any compensation) in a complicated tactical middlegame-position does not automatically mean victory. A pawn more in a standart K vs. K endgame does mean victory though. Computers do evaluate both positions with more or less + 1,0 while good players would give +- and unclear/+=. Why don't computers have a material eval. like this ME = (Material inbalance) / (all Material still on board) * X ? Or does your program ?
