this is just for the bookmakers, but i put my money also on the
PII600 in this case as permanent brain never is gonna
give you that much of a speedup (over 2 fold). In DIEP permanent
brain has never given a 2 fold speedup...
However all this childish talk is big BS.
I bought a PII450 dual for the winboard and auto232 purpose.
a single computer with 2 processors. That solves all the problems.
Secondly running winboard matches on 1 computer at 40 in 40
level means simply 30 seconds a move.
The os will give then the first prog time, then the second prog.
So they both will get in the end 50% of the systemtime.
Everything works cool, except that you get 2 times less cpu time.
the OS blocks practically (i'm insulting OS designers on purpose
as it's a simple matter of blocking) for a very short time process
a and then process b.
This doesn't take away that 30 seconds a move on the old socket 7
computers is not much. More like blitz... ...very well compareable
to a 3 0 game (3 minutes whole game and 0 seconds increment a move
added) against crafty or ferret at icc (quad xeon), or
a 5 5 blitz game against DIEP (accountname=moron) at icc (dual celeron 550)
... ...diep loses 100% of the games against Nimzo at that level
on icc (account name = varguz), cuz diep gets like 6 ply some moves..
..say bye bye tactical then, as that's not near tactical barrier
At 30 30 and 60 30 and 60 120 level however it's the other way around...
...why do we only play serious games in world champs and championships?
I mean 99% of all games i see posted here have a weird air,
hardware wise spoken.
Shredder became world champion at a 550Mhz at 3 minutes a move folks.
Blitz games are not to be taken serious in my opinion, i only see
7 posted 3 minutes games here at serious hardware!
Here another few from my prog at icc with times needed to think about a
move, so you can see that it doesn't get a 2 fold speedup anywhere
prediction rate isn't that high
Rated standard match, initial time: 60 minutes, increment: 120 seconds
