It would probably take a thousand games to find out. I suspect that you would get the same effect (roughly speaking) if you played the original against itself on a 30% faster machine. Sometimes the faster machine will lose. Maybe even 20 games in a row. That's probablity for you. I may have introduced bugs. I can't resist tweaking things now and again. So it may actually be a good deal worse. Or I may have corrected a bug and it could be a good deal better. I have no idea what the truth of the matter is, except that in benchmarks, the phalanxf program is faster.
